What is the Canine Good Citizen Program?
The Canine Good Citizen program emphasizes responsible pet guardianship for pet parents and basic good manners for dogs. Created by the American Kennel Club (AKC), the CGC program is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community.
The CGC certification is recognized as a high standard of dog behavior and is often used as a prerequisite by many therapy dog organizations. It also serves as an excellent foundation for other AKC sports and activities like agility, obedience, and rally as well!
